Building Connections World of Work Visit to Big Yellow

Back in March young people attended a World of Work visit to Big Yellow Self Storage in Manchester City Centre as part of the Building Connections Project.

The project so far has consisted of a series of workshops, during which young people have explored different routes into employment through discussions with a range of different employers – including Big Yellow.

During the visit the young people were welcomed by the Big Yellow team who led them on a building tour and then hosted a Q&A session relating to the business and pathways into employment.

The team provided lot’s of useful advice and tips on how young people can succeed in finding work, not only within Big Yellow, but more generally across different industries.

Young people came away from the visit with a better understanding of what employers look for when searching for new talent. The emphasis on bringing passion, enthusiasm and personality to any roles they intend on applying for in the future gave the young people confidence in their ability to find employment.

It was also great for the young people to meet the team at Big Yellow Manchester, baring in mind the support they continue to show for the work we do!

“As part of our commitment to local communities, we support charities up and down the country.  We have been delighted to have donated storage space to the Greater Manchester Youth Network over the last few years. When they had moved to a new location and were struggling for space, we helped the team free up their premises so they could continue to deliver activities, whilst having storage space to store their equipment securely with us. GMYN’s commitment to helping young people overcome the challenges they face entering the workplace really resonates with Big Yellow.  We recognise the value of the services they provide in the Manchester area and look forward to continuing our partnership.”
